January 2017 – Newsletter

Do you have plans, hope and dreams for 2017?  I’m sure you’ve pondered some of the things you’d like to do this year and perhaps thought about holidays or trips you’d like to take.

The weekend papers are full of enticing articles and ads prompting us to relax and unwind, find a white sandy beach to lie on, or visit a health spa and detox from head to toe!!  All of which sounds wonderful and I wholeheartedly encourage you to take a well- deserved break at some time this year.

However, you don’t have to find a desert island to reap the rewards of relaxation, and it is possible to be proactive about your health, well-being and happiness while at home and on the busy treadmill of life.

I had the good fortune to go to Bali last year and thought about my tendency to wait until I’m away from the hustle and bustle of life before giving myself permission to completely relax and unwind and pay full attention to my well-being.  Sound familiar?!

So, I’d like to share with you over the next few months some simple and effective ways in which you can proactively support your physical, mental and emotional well-being during your everyday life without setting a new year’s resolution, spending a lot of time and money  or enrolling in a course.

Get started right away

This short meditation will enable your body  to activate the Relaxation Response.

The term, ‘Relaxation Response’ was coined by Dr. Herbert Benson, professor, author, cardiologist, and founder of Harvard’s Mind/Body Medical Institute.

In his book The Relaxation Response, Dr. Benson describes the scientific benefits of relaxation.

There is now a wealth of scientific research confirming that the calming effects of meditation on the mental, emotional and physical body have enormous health benefits.

Go on…  It will take less than 8 minutes.  Take the first small step towards

  • Feeling composure and control
  • Boosting your energy levels
  • Calming worry or anxiety
  • Relieving emotional upset
  • Enhancing your immune system
  • Increasing the probability of a peaceful nights sleep
  • Breezing through the rest of your day
  • Replacing frenetic behaviour with ease and calm

My gift to you. Start the year feeling happy, calm, relaxed and productive.

No need to wait until the weekend, until you’re on holiday, until you go to that retreat you’ve been dreaming of.  Life is busy but there’s no need to put your health on the back burner.  Get started right away proactively supporting your health and well-being quickly and effectively.
